EDUCATION
Our first foray, born out of our discussions with many senior journalists, has been the start of a postgraduate teaching and mentoring programme called Journalism Mentor. Designed to address the specific needs of students who wish to become journalists, this rigorous programme, restricted to only 25 students, is meant only for those serious about pursuing journalism as a vocation. Details of the programme are available at www.journalismmentor.in. Two hallmarks of the course, apart from the quality of teaching, are that no student will be deprived the opportunity because of lack of financial resources and a student can learn in the language in which she wants to practise journalism.

Our second foray into education is our High School Journalism Project, which is aimed at journalism literacy and also teaching high school students not only how to read journalism, but also uses journalism to probe issues around democracy, free speech, debate, ethics and values.

We have launched India's first Citizen Journalism programme designed to both have properly trained citizen journalists with access to a citizen's portal.

Also, we are also looking to introduce short-term courses for journalists in the near future and also to teach specific skills associated with news gathering and reporting.

RESEARCH
Good journalism cannot exist unless journalists and media organisations are willing to build on research on how best to present news and views that promote debate and discussion. Therefore, we have begun the process of collaborating with media researchers and other organizations across the world to conduct and disseminate research. The details of these activities will be concretised shortly.

ARCHIVING
Excellence can only be achieved when resources are available to journalists from across the country. We are already in the process of building a library whose resources will be available to journalists across the country. From requesting data to borrowing books to looking up the best practices around the world to archiving news across media, we hope to put together resources that will aid journalists in providing news that is accurate.
